Ceramic Industry-Sanitary Ceramics
|
Barium carbonate and strontium carbonate are used in the production of certain grades of glazes and enamels.
Barium carbonate and strontium carbonate are pre-melted, along with the other raw materials. The resulting glazing frits are remarkable for their excellent resistance to abrasion and leaching out. In certain glazes, strontium oxide has proven itself superior to lead oxide. Surfaces that have been treated with barium and strontium-containig enamel frits show a greater degree of resistance to weathering and corrosion, and are both harder and glossier.
