'The Solvay Barium Strontium business unit is a member of the international Solvay group. As such, we are represented in over 100 countries by branch offices or independent sales agents. Since 1996, all activities are concentrated at the strategic business unit Barium Strontium comprising 4 regional business units. Certain fields of the sales organizations of Nippon Solvay in Japan and Solvay Performance in USA  being responsible for sales activities in the South East Asia Region and Nafta, are linked to this strategic business unit.'

             PRODUCTION FACILITIES

1. EUROPE
   

   The products manufactured at our plant in Bad Hönningen (Germany) include barium carbonate ( BaCO₃) and strontium carbonate (SrCO₃), these being major products with which Solvay is firmly established as a market leader worldwide. We are also one of the leading companies in producing ground sulfur at this site. The marketing of these products is assumed by Solvay Barium Strontium GmbH.

   High purity barium carbonate, strontium carbonate and calcium carbonate, together with other Ba-derivatives as Blanc fixe (barium sulfate - BaSO₄), barium hydroxide octahydrate and monohydrate (Ba(OH)₂. 8H₂O, Ba(OH)₂.H₂O) and barium chloride dihydrate and anhydrous (BaCl₂.2H₂O, BaCl₂) are produced and sold by Solvay Bario e Derivati S.p.A. (Italy). This applies as well to the production of sodium sulfide (Na₂S) and sodium sulphydrate (NaHS).

2. AMERICA

   In addition to our European production site, we also run a manufacturing operation in Monterrey (Mexico). Solvay Quimica y Minera S. A. de C. V. produces and sells directly strontium carbonate (SrCO₃) and Sodium Sulfide(Na₂S).

3. ASIA

   We are also producing barium carbonate (BaCO₃), strontium carbonate (SrCO₃) and ground sulfur at Onsan (Korea). The selling responsibility is with Nippon Solvay K. K.
